I think a dedicated policy for "Can send messages" would be better, to cover more cases. It would be strange that all participants must also be allowed to edit all settings.

It's also misleading that the text box is multiline (at least in desktop) which suggests that line breaks are expected, but pressing Enter instead sends the message. I was caught off-guard by this at least once. So perhaps the text entry box should be made single-line by default (as already happens if the screen is narrow enough) and expand as needed if line breaks are added.

This happened some minutes ago to our friend @waldyrious and I was able to reproduce it on my local computer. I've attached my reproducing instructions.

adding a " full screen" button in the mobile view might just solve this.

The old Chatlog data will be kept while removing Chatlog.
