Description

When reading a wiki page on a wide screen (i.e. width >= 1920px), you lose a lot of (white) space left and right:

The table of contents of a page is currently hidden behind a button:

image.png (96×434 px, 8 KB)

Can the table of contents be displayed immediately on these wide screens instead?

image.png (731×1 px, 131 KB)

On smaller screens, the table of contents should remain hidden behind the button:

Event Timeline

I've discovered a minor UX problem if an heading has a nice icon. Check it:

I will reopen (maybe in an improper way - sorry) just to remember that we can take care of this little cute thing.

valerio.bozzolan added a project: UX.

When reading the wiki at a resolution of 3440x1440 (34 inch monitor), there is still a lot of white space.

I don't know which is better, to reopen this task or to open a new one.

Uhm - but looking at your screenshot, at looking here T15920, it seems a regression

I suggest testing by setting window width = 1791px (e.g. CTRL+shift+M on Firefox), and then passing to window width = 1792px. So we can see that the content max width at the moment always seems ~ 800px.

So this is not a regression, but indeed we could do a bit better for your enormous monitor. So feel free to open another task, about increasing content width for larger screens (that is not only about the table of contents I think) and patch welcome 👍
