Understand why Diffusion creates some orphan Files
Open, NormalPublic

Description

Note this file in my Phorge:

https://gitpull.it/F3486250

It's a binary gradle-wrapper.jar file that seems manually uploaded by an user, but it's not. It's creation date is Sun, May 4, 11:53.

Very probably, that file should be a "temporary" file, since it was probably generated by this commit, that has the same creation date Sun, May 4, 11:53:

https://gitpull.it/R4:b9e85672a1c21996489b5d0e78f64b95dec5f56e

Questions that may deserve an answer:

  • is it desired that the mentioned file is a "manual" one instead of being "temporary"?
  • is it desired that the mentioned file is orphan and not attached to that commit?

Do you know for sure (did Fabio explicitly say so), or is this an assumption based on the similar timestamps?
Looking at https://gitpull.it/file/query/PsXpt_wfGG.y/#R a manual upload does not look like an uncommon action lately.
Plus the other manual uploads of the same file can not be correlated to commits when looking at https://gitpull.it/source/libre-busto/history/master/

Yes

Exactly, 99.999999% of all these files, including gradle-wrapper.jar, were not manually uploaded by Fabio.

Another example file, not manually uploaded, coming from arc diff:
