Subtypes are a bit more complicated to set up and the advantage with subtypes is the ability to change forms so that each subtype has appropriate fields to describe objects of that type.

For example: Bug reports could probably benefit from a few custom fields like operating system or browser version where the bug occurs.

There isn’t really much classification value with subtypes, however, and tags are easier to use for search and discovery.
