Allow "announcement" style channel, where many people can read but only a privileged few can write. Can probably just be implemented by adding "can join" permission, and explaining that "can edit" includes the ability to publish messages. Historically, this feature was achieved by creating a dedicated "task" and adding the note "subscribe to this task to get updates about X".
